Ten men in white, with black top hats strode across the sandbar carrying wooden sticks - as the Uplyme Morris Men turned out to ensure good fortune and fertility for the coming season.

That honoured guest was the Screaming Skull of Bettiscombe seen in public for the first time in St Stephen's Church on Saturday.
By computer magic the actual skull, subject of so many scary stories, appeared at an exhibition of Bettiscombe's art, crafts and working history in the church, part of the fair in the village hall.Source: Bridport and Lyme Regis News Tuesday 4th Dec 2007
