Come and celebrate the rescue of Weymouth's Old Town Hall

Sunday 13th September 2009 from 11am to 6pm

Some of things visitors can enjoy are:
  • Display of local history of the area and signed copies of the book "Weymouth Through Time" from which a donation is made to the Old Town Hall for each copy sold.
  • Art displays
  • Photographic displays
  • Music
  • Refreshments
  • Information about the Old Town Hall project to renovate and restore the building for it to be used as a Heritage Centre on one floor and an Arts Centre on the other. Also, information about the Chapelhay Community Partnership.
There will be a lot more besides, so do come along and see what it's all about.

Location: Old Town Hall, High Street, Weymouth - opposite the Boot Inn down the end of High West Street and diagonally behind the council offices on North Quay. Nearest car park is the council offices car park which is open to anyone at weekends, pay and display.

This event is hosted by Guardians of the Old Town Hall (GOTH) - a group of six people who joined together to form a Community Interest Company and took on the lease from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council for a term of 30 years at a peppercorn rent.

Below: On Saturday 7th February 2009 a spectacular re-enactment took place in commemoration of the Battle of Weymouth and the Crabchurch Conspiracy of 1645. This film shows highlights of the march and wreath laying from The Old Town Hall to the Nothe.
