Event News: SwanageFolk Festival - September 11th - 13th 2009

The big highlight of our festival is the Saturday night concert, now being held at the Mowlem Theatre. The amazing Demon Barber Roadshow, winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for best Live Act for 2009, will be topping the bill with their amazing mix of contemporary and traditional folk songs and music, mixed with clog dancing, morris dancing and an amazing rapper display, featuring members of Black Swan rapper side.

There is a delightful mix of music on offer all weekend at various venues. Apart from concerts featuring stars such as Colvin Quarmby, Something Nasty in the Woodshed, Pete Coe, John Conolly, Belshazzar‘s Feast, Ian Bruce, and many more, there are workshops and sessions to take part in.

One of the main features of Swanage Folk Festival is the many dance sides who come and perform for your pleasure. Somewhere in the region of 50 dance sides, Morris, Rapper, Clog, and even Belly Dancers, take part in the parade saturday afternoon through the town centre. These sides can be seen dancing at a variety of venues around the town all weekend.

Children are not forgotten with activites on the Sandpit Field, amusement rides, and active story sessions in the library.

For eager shoppers there are the craft fair and trade stalls on Sandpit Field.

The Festival Information Tent and main Festival Bar are on Sandpit Field.

Visit the website at www.swanagefolkfestival.co.uk for more details of what‘s happening over the weekend and ticket application forms.

Do not miss this festival. Come to Swanage September 11th - 13th 2009.
