News Clipping: Turtle fossil may be ‘new species’

A turtle fossil which dates back more than 140million years could be a new species. The complete specimen was found at a quarry when a four-tonne block of Portland stone split.  Mark Godden, a manager at Albion Stone at Portland, Dorset, was with his wife Diane when she spotted the specimen – identified as Hylaeochelys ‘Shell Genus’. Mr Godden said: ‘It could be a new species, which would be amazing.’
