Events: Danny Boyle's 'Frankenstein' showing at Cineworld

Danny Boyle's stunning stage production breathes new life into Mary Shelley's classic fable.

Down in his laboratory, ambitious scientist Victor Frankenstein (Jonny Lee Miller) is attempting to create new life from body parts. But he's appalled by the Creature (Benedict Cumberbatch) he creates, which flees into a hostile world. Everybody knows the story by now.

But the genius of Nick Dear's adaptation and Danny's Boyle's highly acclaimed National Theatre production of Mary Shelley's enduring novel is that it makes the story so fresh. For his return to his theatrical roots, 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Boyle audaciously alternated the roles of Frankenstein and the Creature between his superb stars. Benedict Cumberbatch, aka TV's Sherlock Holmes, and Jonny Lee Miller of 'Trainspotting' fame deliver two quite different yet equally astonishing performances. Incredible set design and lighting plus evocative music by Underworld make them both unmissable experiences.

This version is screening at Weymouth's Cineworld on June 14th at 6.30pm and June 17th at 4.00pm.
